This project is intended for a high school Ceramics 1 class. I collaboratively planned and taught this lesson with Luke Kushlan, another pre-service art teacher.  In this lesson, students learned about the history and differences between art and craft, and between functional and non-functional pottery. They also learned about the ceramic artist Peter Volkos. Using these concepts, they created a functional ceramic plate and then creatively modified the plate to make it non-functional.
